Los Angeles - The Rubicon Project, a provider of Internet advertising technology, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $6 million in its first round of funding.

Clearstone Venture Partners invested $4 million for incubation and product development, while the company secured an additional $2 million in venture debt through Square1Bank.

Los Angeles-based the Rubicon Project was founded by the creators of the L90/adMonitor Internet advertising platform, which was later acquired by DoubleClick.

The company says it is developing a Web-based, self-service online ad system that any size website can use.

The Rubicon Project will launch its service in private beta on Oct. 8.
