Did you catch Monday Night Football on ESPN last night? Unless you’re a Patriots fan, you can be forgiven for feeling nauseous over commentator Tony Kornheiser’s game-long gushing analysis of, in this order: 1) Tom Brady, 2) Bill Belichick, 3) The Patriots organization. He literally took the entirety of the telecast to blush over Tom’s magazine-cover-boy looks, his romantic forays, his calm and leadership on the field, etc, etc, etc. He also repeated the following phrase at least 30 times: “Jaws, do you think the Patriots can go 16-0?!?!” He wasn’t asking, he was making a prediction. Then after the game, in post-game analysis, he says, “No, it’s not too early to think about 16-0 for this team.” Good call, Tony. At 4-0 it’s definitely time to start making those predictions.
As for Belichick, could he have praised his “genius” any more? Could he have ignored Spygate any less? Come on, Tony, be a man and discuss the facts: Richard Nixon has been reincarnated as the coach of the Patriots. Just say it, please. Just acknowledge that you know what has happened this season, and don’t be afraid to bring it up. And that's not to say Spygate is worth overanalyzing, either. But in an effort to remain fair, just discuss the issue from an unbiased point of view.
And Pats fans, be frightened: Kornheiser even compared your team to...yep...the Yankees! "What is it about that Patriots uniform that just raises athletes' games to a new level? It's like putting on the Yankees uniform."
But let's not forget that until Tom Brady arrived, the Patriots organization was the doormat of the NFL. Now they're the Yankees because of the Tom Brady era? Isn't that a title more befitting of, say, the Steelers? Don't you have to win over multiple eras to get that classification? Not according to Tony Kornheiser.
Speaking of the Yankees, did you catch that '27 Yankees reference, too? "The Patriots offense is the '27 Yankees right now, a Murderer's Row." No one has ever accused Tony Kornheiser of overaggerating. The '27 Yankees, Tony? Really? You're ready to make that statement already?
And going back to his Tom Brady analysis, let me say this: It's impossible to dislike Tom Brady. He does everything right, he's a good teammate, a good quarterback, and seems like a genuinely good guy. He passes the "Person you'd like to have a beer with" test. Even fans who hate the Pats like Tom Brady. He's the Derek Jeter of football.
But come on, Tony! Leave it at that. I don't want to worry about the next MNF game with the Pats because of the fear that you'll spend the entire show talking about Tom Brady like a high school girl! And I'm not making this "Tony Kornheiser has a Man Crush on Tom Brady" stuff up, either. How many times did he say it?! "I have a Man Crush on Tom Brady, don't I?" I bet Jaws had to hold back puking at least five times during the game.
The official “Tony Kornheiser Monday Night Football Career Watch” has begun. Time is ticking, and Tony took a giant step last night in assuring the end of his MNF run. Before this season I was a Tony fan. Now he’s just an awful answer to an equally awful announcer: Joe Theisman.

I smell a hater
pretty pitiful of you...
Must suck to be you.
I'm sorry your team isn't living up to your expectations. But it's not like you're taking the sportswriting world by storm either.
Spygate is over?!?!
And yes, it's a little disturbing that the ESPN crew would only talk about Belichick in the most glowing terms, even though he has obviously cheated and broken a very basic, easy to understand rule... and then lied about "misinterpreting the rules."
So yeah, Brady's a good guy... but his coach is a cheating bastard. Every victory in the last few years is questionable, including the super bowl. Just because he decides that he doesn't want to talk about his lying, cheating ways, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Now THAT'S pitiful.
Now 8-0 and still rolling
ummmmmmmmmmm so 16-0... god
