Universal City, Calif. - Universal Studios Home Entertainment on Wednesday introduced a new website that will link directly from HD DVD discs, so users can download bonus scenes, create online profiles and buy movie- and TV-related items from a U-Shop store.

Universal said that in the first two weeks following the release of "Heroes" Season 1 on HD DVD, nearly 40% of purchasers had registered an account in order to access the new Web-based features.

UniversalHiDef.com will let users download exclusive trailers, content and games directly to their HD DVD player, as well as send movie clips to friends.

Universal said the first title to feature U-Shop content will be "Evan Almighty."
