New York - Struggling video game publisher Atari has announced that France-based parent company Infogrames has removed the company's five independent board members, after receiving the written consent of stockholders.

Those ousted include James Ackerly, the chairman and president of Splinternet Holdings Inc.; Ronald C. Bernard, president of LWB Consulting; Michael G. Corrigan, vice chairman of Afterburner Films Inc. and a co-founder and principal of Shelbourne Capital Partners; Denis Guyennot, an executive of Glu Mobile Inc.; and independent consultant Ann E. Kronen, the Associated Press reported.

The move "will allow the group to get closer to achieving the key objectives" of a plan to return to profitability," said Infogrames chairman and CEO Patrick Leleu.

Atari reported a net loss of nearly $70 million in its last fiscal year.
