Multiverse Lets Users Add Google Earth, 3D Models to Virtual WorldsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 9, 2007 - 12:51pm.
Mountain View, Calif. - Multiverse Network, the developer of a platform for creating 3D virtual worlds, has partnered with Google to allow users to incorporate terrain from Google Earth and 3D models from Google's 3D Warehouse into their creations, CNET News.com reported. Google's 3D Warehouse is a repository for the millions of 3D models users have created with Google's SketchUp 3D software tool. "The goal is to grab things from the 3D Warehouse when looking at things in Google Earth and then make an instant multiverse world," Multiverse co-founder Corey Bridges told News.com. "What we've done is provide a more streamlined interface for using (Google's technology) as a virtual-world production tool."
