Britney's New Album has been bumped up 2 weeks to prevent LeaksCiting the amount of “leaked” songs for Britney Spears’ new album titled Blackout (no pun is believed to be intended), her label, Jive Records, has bumped the launch date to October 30th, two weeks ahead of the original November 13th release.  Said a label spokesperson, "Due to these numerous unauthorized online leaks, the label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album to Oct. 30."

Spears single Gimme More, currently No. 1 on iTunes, has held the spot for weeks.  It is also the No. 1 ringtone.

With skeptics believing the album would suffer because of the lack of time she has spent promoting the album, other, more knowledgeable sources are responding by saying, “Do you live on planet earth?” All Britney has done since her Video Music Awards “performance” (see it here) is promote her album.  No one has jammed the headlines like Spears and the hype doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.

As Kanye West proved during the week leading up to the launch of his recent album, Graduation, there’s no such thing as negative publicity in 2007 (see an example here).  You either make news, however you can, or you suffer.  He sold more copies in the first week than anyone this year, 957,000 units according to Nielsen SoundScan.
