Brooklyn, N.Y. - Outside.in, a network of neighborhood and local news sites and blogs, has raised $1.5 million in its second round of funding, from returning backers including Union Square Ventures, Milestone Ventures, Village Ventures and individual angel investors, PEHub.com reported.

Brooklyn-based Outside.in features user-generated and freelancer posts of local news, as well as links to posts from bloggers covering their local communities.

The company was founded by Steven Berlin Johnson, who co-created the online magazine FEED and community site, Plastic.com, and John Geraci, whose previous work includes Neighbornode, Pheeder and Foundcity.

The company previously raised first round funding in February.
