Miley Cyrus Tour Adds Seats to Accommodate Demand

Miley Cyrus's Tour is Adding SeatsHannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus, whose “Best of Both Worlds” tour begins October 18th, appeared on Ellen today and said seats were being added to accommodate the huge demand and combat scalpers.  Industry observers have debated whether the tour’s popularity is genuine or the device of scalping agencies buying up tickets to create artificial demand.

"We made (VIP sections) smaller, so the kids that wouldn't necessarily have had the chance to come, they can get in, but not for a fortune," Cyrus said. "It's going to be a good show, but I don't think it's worth what it's going for. For the people that do get to come, I'm going to make it the best show ever."

Take our Poll: Is Hannah Montana all hype and no substance?

Whether the tour’s demand is genuine or not, indisputable is the fact the 54-show tour sold out quickly, with a ticket in Charlotte, North Carolina being resold for $2,500.  When DeGeneres asked Cyrus about the high price, she responded, "Oh, gosh, it ain't worth that!"

Scalping for the tour’s tickets has been so significant that Arkansas’s Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is investigating ticket-scalping violations.  EBay property StubHub is among the companies he is looking at. (Read about it here)

Cyrus’s father Billy Ray appeared on the show as well, and seemed to concede that the unprecedented sell-out was more a product of technology than fan interest.  "Miley's doing the concert and the tour for the fans. It is sad that she's putting all this work behind it and really wants to make as many families and kids happy as possible. It's sad that with the internet that the scalpers got a hold of the tickets first."
