Perez Hilton, aka Mario LavandeiraLos Angeles - Sony BMG's Zomba Recording label, which owns the copyrights to Britney Spears' recordings, announced yesterday that it has filed a copyright infringement suit against celebrity gossip blog PerezHilton.com and its proprietor, Mario Lavandeira, alleging he illegally obtained and posted recordings by Spears on the Internet.

The suit accuses Lavandeira of posting at least 10 completed tracks and unfinished demos from Spears' upcoming album "Blackout" over the past three months.

The company said that, due to the leaks, Jive Records will now move up the release date of the album from Nov. 13 to Oct. 30.

"The unauthorized dissemination of recordings is a serious violation of copyright law," said a Zomba spokesperson.

"In addition, posting demos and unfinished songs as if they were final versions is grossly unfair to the artist and misleading to the public."

The suit does not specify the amount of monetary damages sought, but Zomba says it is seeking both real and punitive damages, as well as legal costs, and an injunction preventing Lavandeira from making any further copyright infringements.

Who cares!

It's not as though anyone is going to run out and buy a Britney Spears CD now anyway. They're delusional at Zomba. This chicks career is over, and they're just trying to squeeze what little they can out of this train wreck of a has been. We thinks they're pumping a dry well. Good luck!
