Los Angeles - Mobinex, a developer of virtual communications technology, announced on Tuesday that its fix8 division has raised $3 million in its first round of financing from Vickers Financial Group.
Los Angeles-based fix8 offers an application that digitizes human expressions and gestures via webcam, allowing users to broadcast an avatar version of themselves on social networks and various IM services.
The technology can also be used by users to submit fix8 content into live or taped programming.
The company also plans to launch a mobile version of its application.
