London - Acclaim Games, a publisher of massively multiplayer online games, has received a multi-million dollar investment from Mayfield through GameInvestors.com, GamesIndustry.biz reported.

"Acclaim was perfectly positioned in the game space, being entirely focused online, delivering micro-transactions, pre-paid cards, digital distribution, massive audiences, in-game advertising, user-generated content, and with a portfolio of games for both casual and core demographics," GameInvestors.com CEO Dave Perry told GamesIndustry.biz.

Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Acclaim Games was founded in 2006, from the ashes of the bankrupt Acclaim Entertainment, with a new focus on bringing Asian multiplayer games to North America and Europe.

GameInvestors.com also plans to launch two managed funds in the spring that will provide direct investments in game companies.
