BBC Plans Global, Commercial Version of TV Download ServiceAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 17, 2007 - 2:30pm.
London - BBC Worldwide plans to launch a globally-available, commercial version of its free iPlayer service, which lets U.K. residents watch BBC programs for seven days online after their initial broadcast, PaidContent UK reported. The commercial version, for which further plans are expected to be announced yet this year, will "offer on-demand content licensed to it by the BBC on a commercial basis," to be made available after the seven-day period during which it is exclusively available on the free U.K. iPlayer.
