The series will add another layer to the Star Wars story, which is already told in comics, novels, and video games.  Lucas Animation also has a TV series of its own, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which will be computer-animated.  Lucas said he will produce the series through his own companies prior to selling the product to networks.  The LA Times believes the same model might be used for the live-action series.
