Cupertino, Calif. - Confirming a report from yesterday, Apple on Wednesday announced that it has cut the price for DRM-free tracks at its iTunes Plus store from $1.29 to 99 cents, and expanded its catalog to include tracks from independent labels and distributors including Sub Pop, Beggars Group, IODA and The Orchard.

Unlike tracks sold through the regular iTunes Store, songs purchased from iTunes Plus have no limitations on the type of music player or number of computers on which they may be played.

"We're adding over two million tracks from key independent labels in addition to EMI's digital catalog and look forward to even more labels and artists making their music available on iTunes Plus," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes.
