Judd Apatow will contribute original content to the site as wellHaving led some of the most successful recent comedies like Knocked Up, Superbad, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Judd Apatow is hoping to bring some of his magic to FunnyorDie.com, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s site.  Apatow has joined the site as a partner.

The FunnyorDie.com model is much like YouTube’s, but all of the content is comedic and graded on a 5-point scale, occasionally by Ferrell and McKay, as well as other guest stars.  The duo has also contributed original content since the site’s April launch, like “The Landlord,” which has been viewed over 47 million times.

The announcement about Apatow was made via a video on the site, which you can see here.

Ferrell, McKay, and Apatow are working on Step Brothers, which Apatow is producing for Sony.

"Adam and Will and myself have been friends for many years, and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to create a situation where the friendship could not survive," Apatow said.

He also said his involvement in FunnyorDie.com is about the discovery of new talent, not merely a business venture.  "I always like working with new funny people.” The site is "another opportunity to find interesting people to collaborate with."
