Franklin, Tenn. - PassAlong Networks, an operator and provider of digital music services, announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with e-commerce firm Digonex Technologies and independent label Nettwerk Music Group to test a digital music store that will offer variably-priced MP3s.

Singles are dynamically priced at 33 cents, 66 cents or 99 cents, while albums can fluctuate between $3.30 and $9.99, using Digonex's pricing engine, which "systematically changes pricing based on Internet economics and consumer behavioral principles."

Tennessee-based PassAlong said that it will be able to adjust retail pricing on a weekly basis for Nettwerk's MP3 catalog, which includes artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies and Datarock.

Initially, about 150 variably-priced full albums and 1,500 singles will be available through PassAlong's StoreBlocks, which powers more than 130 music download stores for clients including TransWorld's f.y.e, and Jazziz Magazine.

The companies said that during the pricing pilot, which will run through late 2007, consumer responses and pricing results will be reviewed, and adjustments made accordingly.
