London - The BBC on Thursday announced details of its "Delivering Creative Future" plan, which will include 1,800 layoffs, an integration of its TV, radio and Internet news operations, and 10% less original programming.
"There will be a smaller BBC, but one which packs a bigger punch because it is more focused on quality and the content that really makes a difference to audiences," said BBC director-general Mark Thompson.
"And it will be a BBC which is fully prepared for digital."
The BBC said the layoffs will affect its news and factual departments the most.
