SocialMedia Networks Raised $3.5 Million

Mill Valley, Calif. - SocialMedia Networks, a provider of tools for developers building applications for online social networks, announced on Thursday that it has raised $3.5 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Charles River Ventures.

Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen, and SoftTech VC managing partner Jeff Clavier also participated.

Mill Valley, Calif.-based SocialMedia Networks provides advertisers and developers tools like Appsaholic, an analytics engine that lets Facebook developers track their applications and buy and sell installs on its network.

It has also developed its own Facebook applications, including Happy Hour and Foodfight, which count a combined more than 6 million users.
