Jay-Z Finished Retiring with a New Album on the Way

Jay-Z has (another) post-retirement album coming outThanks for the apology, Jay-Z, but we’re accustomed to stars (mostly athletes) retiring only to “give it one more try” less than a year later.  Although he’s hip-hop’s most notorious retiree (because he just can’t seem to follow through and actually retire), he now says he’s finished playing the game, as he says in XXL’s new issue.

"I want to never say that again," the 37-year-old rap mogul says.  "Just make the albums, man. And if one day people wake up and it's four years later, and you haven't made another, they go, `Wait a minute, you're retired!' I think that's best for me.  I think I pulled the retirement ripcord too many times. People looking at me like, `Please shut up.' I was looking at (his retirement movie) `Fade to Black' the other day. I was embarrassed. I couldn't watch. I'm not playing with you. I had to turn it off. I was cringing."

The apology is nice, though unnecessary.  Who would be upset to hear Jay-Z has a new album?  His upcoming project was inspired by American Gangster, the film starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, launching November 2nd.
