San Francisco – GameLayers, a San Francisco-based game developer focused on "passively-multiplayer" online games, has raised $500,000 in new funding led by O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, PEHub.com reported, citing a regulatory filing.
The PMOG concept uses data from Web surfing, such as which sites a user has visited, and how they arrived there, to ascribe points.
The company's PMOG.com game, which utilizes a Firefox plug-in to monitor Web surfing, is currently accepting applications for beta testers.
