Tokyo - Nintendo this week announced plans to release its Wii video game console in China and South Korea next year, Reuters reported.

Up until September, when "Halo 3" boosted Xbox 360 sales, Nintendo's Wii has outsold its rivals from Microsoft and Sony every month of this year.

During the months of July through September, 3.9 million Wii units were sold, which was more than twice the number of Xbox 360s sold in the same period, and three times the number of PlayStation 3s.

Despite recent announcements of console price cuts from Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo reiterated that it currently has no plans to follow suit.

"We are in a situation where we need to focus our effort on satisfying demand. I am not at all thinking about price cuts," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told a news conference.
