Sony: Games Unit Losses Expected to Double

Tokyo - Sony expects losses for the current fiscal year at its video game unit, Sony Computer Entertainment, will exceed $876 million -- more than double what the company had initially forecast, Reuters reported.

The costly PlayStation 3 console is the main factor dragging SCE down, although Sony expects the unit will at least break even for the second half of its fiscal year.

The company did say that games unit losses will be somewhat offset by a 5% operating profit margin from its electronics division, credited to strong sales of its televisions, cameras and other products.
