Best Buy Takes Stake in Mydeo, Debuts Video Hosting Service

Minneapolis - Electronics and media retail chain Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) announced on Wednesday that it has taken a minority equity stake in Mydeo, and launched a subscription-based video hosting service for its customers using the company's services.

Best Buy Video Sharing will offer both monthly and annual plans starting at $6.97 per month for 100 minutes of hosting, with video lengths capped at 30 minutes; a premium, $1,440 per year plan will include 5,000 minutes and cap video lengths at 90 minutes.

Subscribers will be able to determine who gets access to their videos, which will be displayed without any advertising.

Founded in 2005, Wimbledon, England-based Mydeo also provides video hosting services for Microsoft in Europe.
