Ryan Seacrest Interviews Britney Spears on KIIS-FMAuthored by Scott Goldberg on October 31, 2007 - 6:33am.
On Air with Ryan Seacrest had a guest on its show today sure to make any radio producer start sniffing glue again, Britney Spears. At this point you have to ask yourself if the girl can continue to surprise. Even though the odds of a smooth, clean interview are low, her hitting streak for craziness is reaching Joe DiMaggio levels, so you might have expected this one occasion to go over well. You can listen to the interview here. Alli Sims, Spears’s friend and lone handler at the moment, called and handed the phone to Britney. Keep in mind the show airs live and early, so Seacrest was getting a fresh-out-of-bed Britney. “Good morning, Britney,” Seacrest says. Britney just giggles. Aren’t they cute at that age?! A short while later, Seacrest asks, “So Britney, now the album has been out for a day, what will you do for the rest of the week? Do you have to do appearances? Will you promote the album? What are you going to be doing?” A unidentified guy on the line with Britney shouts, “This is it!” and he, Britney, and Alli crack up. When asked how the line “It’s Britney, bitch,” from Gimme More came about, Spears offered a candid answer, “Oh god! The producer told me to say that. I didn’t do it. The guy who wrote the song was like, ‘This is you!’ or whatever.” Wait: Britney doesn’t write her own songs?!?! Then mid-conversation when Seacrest asks about Halloween costumes, Spears disappears, and we hear Alli for a few minutes. When asked if Britney has anything to say to her fans, Alli answers, but Seacrest says, “Does Britney want to say it herself?” “She’s in the shower,” Alli responds. Yep, she did it again. She managed to pull off the unexpected, leaving a live interview mid-conversation for a shower. Thirty years from now this is one of many things you’ll tell your kids about the life and times of the Britney Spears era. Enjoy the ride. |
