Activeworlds Launches Virtual World Facebook ApplicationAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 1, 2007 - 11:39am.
Newburyport, Mass. - Activeworlds, a provider of virtual world technology, on Thursday introduced a Facebook application that allows companies and developers to build applications for Facebook. The Active Worlds 3D Avatar and World Explorer application utilizes Microsoft's Internet Explorer and ActiveX to allow for the addition of virtual world elements to their existing standard websites. "For the first time, millions of Facebook users that install the app can interact and chat with each other, explore sweeping 3D landscapes and environments, and build their own virtual structures for others to enjoy," said Robert Frederick, developer of the application.
