Hackers Unlock Violent Content in Rockstar's "Manhunt 2"Authored by Mark Hefflinger on November 2, 2007 - 11:01am.
London - Less than 24 hours after its release earlier this week, hackers altered the PSP version of Rockstar Games' (NASD: TTWO) controversial "Manhunt 2" to unlock gory content taken out of the game to secure an "M" rating -- which was apparently removed from the game but not from underlying source code, GamesIndustry.biz reported. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) originally game the game an "AO" Adults Only rating, essentially precluding its release on major platforms and stocking by most retailers. The existence of hidden code in "Manhunt 2" recalls the "Hot Coffee" controversy that Rockstar and Take-Two encountered over sexually explicit content in "Grand Theft Auto."
