Warner Opts Out of Nokia Music Store Over Copyright Concerns

New York - Despite participation from fellow major labels Universal, Sony BMG and EMI, Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) is withholding its songs from Nokia's new online music store over copyright concerns, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

The new service allows downloads directly to mobile phones of through a PC.

Warner is reportedly concerned about another Nokia service, MOSH, that lets users upload and share songs and videos, and is being used to transfer copyrighted material, The Journal reported.

Nokia maintains that it has implemented Audible Magic copyright filtering on MOSH, and that it will promptly respond to requests to remove copyrighted material.

"We are continuing discussions with [Warner]...and we are hopeful that Warner will be part of Nokia Music Store in the future," Nokia spokesman Kari Tutti told The Journal.
