New York - Viacom (NYSE: VIA) announced on Wednesday that it has completed the formation of its 50/50 joint venture with Network18 in India, Viacom18, which will distribute television, film and digital media content across numerous brands as well as consumer products.

The joint venture plans to launch a new Hindi-language general entertainment channel in India early next year, which will feature original, locally-produced programming, as well as acquisitions and MTV Networks content.

Viacom18 will also operate MTV Networks' local networks in India, as well as produce, acquire and distribute Hindi-language films through Studio18, the motion picture division of Network18.
