San Antonio, Texas - AT&T (NYSE: T) on Thursday announced that it has launched a mobile version of the Pandora music discovery and personalized streaming radio service for its wireless subscribers.

Pandora is based on the Music Genome Project, which has since 2000 been using trained musicians to analyze up to 400 attributes in songs -- such as melody, harmony and rhythm -- to categorize them and build automatic playlists based on musical similarities.

Mobile users will be able to rate songs played on their personal stations, and Pandora will then tweak the station's programming.

The service will initially be currently available on eight AT&T phones, including the Samsung SYNC, a717 and a73; the Motorola V3xx and RAZR 2; LG trax and existing LG CU400 and CU405 models.

AT&T will offer a free, five-day trial, after which time Pandora will cost $8.99 per month.
