EA Teams with Broadcom on Mobile; Gifts "Sim City" to One Laptop per ChildAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 8, 2007 - 12:08pm.
Redwood City, Calif. - Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with chipmaker Broadcom (NASD: BRCM), to optimize EA Mobile game titles for Broadcom's latest chips that support HD content and graphics the company says rival those on handheld consoles. Separately, EA announced that it will donate the original "SimCity" city-building game to each computer in the One Laptop per Child (OPLC) initiative. OPLC is expected to being distributing laptops in countries such as Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Haiti, Cambodia and India by the end of this year.
