Hillary Clinton introduces Fact Checking Site 'The Fact Hub'

Hillary Clinton's The Fact HubPresidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has upped her involvement in the “Blogosphere” with a new website called The Fact Hub that provides a quick response to charges and news reports that her campaign deems inaccurate.  The site implies that its contents are, in fact, the Facts of the story, period, using the slogan, “The Straight Scoop on Election ’08 from The Hillary Clinton Campaign.”

The Fact Hub swooped into action yesterday, rebutting an NPR report that Clinton stiffed a waitress at an Iowa Maid-Rite diner.  The site quotes the report as saying, “Clinton may have decided not to tip. She was also never given a bill — her meal was on the house,” then goes on to say both claims are false, blogging: “The manager of the of the restaurant tells First Read the Clinton campaign did, in fact, tip. ‘They paid their bill, and they left a tip,’ said Brad Crawford, manager of the Maid Rite restaurant in Toledo, Iowa. ‘Everybody was satisfied. No question about it.’” The Fact Hub says the bill was “about” $157, and the campaign left a $100 tip.

Meanwhile, the waitress, Anita Esterday, refutes the claim that she lied.  “Why would I lie about not getting a tip?” she told NPR.

So does The Fact Hub represent The Facts, or is it just another political microphone?  The answer couldn’t matter less: One’s blog – no matter who one is – merely represents a side of the story.  Whether or not voters are lured by the declarative name of the blog remains to be seen.

Media needs to be checked

The media is always going to try to make Hillary look bad. The more we can point out their hit pieces, the more the public will realize that Hillary is the only candidate with these 4 attributes (there's more but I forget): honesty, integrity, flexibility, kindness.

Hillary and the tip

If the waitress said she didn't get a tip, she may not have. It wouldn't be the first time that a manager or someone else took the tip and didn't share with those that did the work. I worked my way through college as a waitress and it was real hard work. I believe that Hillary deeply cares about people. I agree that she has integrity and believe that her empathy with the waitress as a single Mom is real. I believe others in the story are the real bad guys.
