Fan Sues Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus for Ticket Deception

Miley Cyrus singingWith the ticket mess surrounding Miley Cyrus’s 54-show “Best of Both Worlds” tour, it was only a matter of time for a lawsuit to surface.  Kerry Inman of Pennsville, New Jersey claims she paid $29.95 to join Cyrus’s official website, MileyWorld.com, in order to benefit from the site’s claim that members would have seats made available to them before the general public, TMZ reports.

Inman’s $5 million class action lawsuit is aimed at Interactive Media Marketing and Smiley Miley Inc., who co-own MileyWorld.com, “for violations of Tennessee law governing unfair and deceptive acts or practices.”

The suit’s amount comes from an estimate as to the size of MileyWorld.com’s user base, which the Plaintiff “does not, as yet, know.”  But the “Plaintiff believes that there are several thousand or tens of thousand Class Members.” That’s quite a range, and likely falls short of the actual number, given Cyrus’s Beatle-like popularity.

Extra:

One particularly interesting line of the suit (or amusing, depending on your perspective) is the following: “MileyWorld.com purports to be a fan site offering memberships to the fans of Destiny Hope ‘Miley’ Cyrus, and her fictitious alter ego Hannah Montana.”

Who knew “Destiny Hope” was Miley’s real name?  You learn something new every day.

You also have to love the “fictitious alter ego” angle.  Sounds sinister enough to place Hannah Montana in the same league as Gargamel from The Smurfs!

Finally Someone Gets Angry Enough!

Lawsuit does have some basis. We're a member of the fan club and tried for a whole hour to get pre sale tickets and the site kept going down and freezing and to no avail did we get tickets. What the hell was the 29.95 for? My daughter cried and cried and was devastated she could at least have added 2nd shows to the venues that sold out so fast. Dissappointed Mom Houston, TX

We are asking people who

We are asking people who joined the Miley Cyrus Fan Club and couldn’t buy tickets to the Hannah Montana show to call 1-800-543-9859 or email us at www.peircelaw.com/contact.html. they are the lawyers who are sueing.... contact them if u want to join the lawsuit

You people are pathetic. If

You people are pathetic. If you want tickets to a show go stand in the cold or try to get lucky on-line like everyone else. Now you're attempting to sue people because you didn't try hard enough to get tickets? So let me guess, now your spoiled children are pissed off at you and you can't stand to think to do anything but sue. It's people like you that take pride away from what it means to be an American citizen. How about this for some advice, a. Place the blame on yourself. Joining a fan club is not means to be the most important person in the world. Next time, try getting off of your ass and camping out over night for your children. God knows I've pulled numerous all nighters camped outside of venues to get good seats for my little sisters. b. Be a better parent. Oh no! Not that! People let their children run their lives now a days and it is sick. If you're kid is pouting around because they cant get what they want maybe you should consider it an introduction into a little place called the real world, where you don't get everything you want in life.

I agree

You are so right!

Hey Hannah Montana
