Palo Alto, Calif. - Fatdoor, the developer of a neighborhood community platform and social networking service, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $5.5 million in first round funding, led by Norwest Venture Partners, and hired Jennifer Dulski, former head of Yahoo's (NASD: YHOO) local markets and commerce division, as its new CEO.

KeyNote Ventures also participated in the funding, which will be used to expand market presence, scale infrastructure and build out the company's community offering.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Fatdoor is currently alpha testing its service, which offers community calendars and location-based social networking features.

The company is planning a public launch of its service in the spring of 2008.
