New York - The Orchard has completed its merger with Digital Music Group, Inc. (NASD: DMGI), a fellow provider of digital distribution services for music and video. Under terms of the all-stock transaction, shareholders of The Orchard will own about 60% of the combined company, which will be based out of New York, and continue to be led by Orchard president and CEO Greg Scholl.

The company's shares began trading on the Nasdaq Wednesday under the new ticker symbol "ORCD" (NASD: ORCD).

The Orchard's catalog now consists of over one million recordings, from noted independent labels including Kill Rock Stars, Barsuk, Ipecac, Definitive Jux, Sanctuary and Delicious Vinyl, and also includes thousands of hours of TV, film and video.

The company distributes its partners' songs and video content to digital retailers like iTunes, eMusic and Rhapsody.
