San Antonio, Texas - AT&T (NYSE: T) announced on Monday that it has acquired Ingenio, a provider of pay-per-call technology, an advertising platform that provides unique phone numbers to track calls to businesses generated by specific ads. Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in early January, were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, San Francisco-based Ingenio has raised a total of $109 million in venture capital. AT&T plans to integrate Ingenio's technology into its directory service and local search advertising sites, including YellowPages.com, AT&T Real Yellow Pages and 1-800-Yellow Pages.

"As advertisers add performance-based advertising to their marketing mix, this investment makes sense for our business," said Ray Wilkins, president of AT&T's diversified business group.

"Ingenio's technology will allow AT&T to expand our robust service portfolio for print, online and mobile advertisers, and that will further differentiate us from our competitors."
