Interactive TV Ad Developer Backchannelmedia Raises $3 Million

Boston - Backchannelmedia, a provider of digital TV ad serving and response capture services, announced on Monday that it has raised $3 million in new funding, capping its first round at nearly $10 million.

The company did not disclose its investors.

Founded in 2000, Boston-based Backchannelmedia has been developing a platform that merges direct marketing, Internet advertising and TV advertising, which it says allows for better targeting and immediate feedback to TV ads.

The company's technology lets TV viewers use their remote controls to click through from TV content to deeper advertiser information and content from the Internet.

Backchannelmedia plans to launch a private beta of its technology with a number of digital TV stations and content providers during the first half of 2008.
