San Jose, Calif. - SyncTV, a unit of Pioneer Corp., on Monday announced the launch of a private beta test of its new Internet-based TV download service, which will initially offer content from providers including CBS' (NYSE: CBS) Showtime Networks. Currently available for PC, Mac or Linux, with plans to offer portable device and TV compatibility, SyncTV offers unlimited downloads of DVD-quality or HD-quality shows from pre-programmed channels, which cost between $2 and $4 each per month. Other shows will be available a la carte for about $2 each.
