Buzz Watch: Marvel Digital Comics UnlimitedAuthored by Jay Baage on November 19, 2007 - 7:40pm.
Marvel Comics (NYSE: MVL) just announced a new digital service which provides you with unlimited access to high-resolution versions of over 2,500 comics from their catalog for $9.99 per month . This video walks you through the basics of how it works. Also, since the blogosphere is going nuts over Amazon's (NSDQ: AMZN) new eBook reader ”Kindle”, Marvel Comics Unlimited provides a good example of the device's basic flaws. First, the Kindle is in black-and-white, which takes away a lot from the experience of reading a comic like this in full color. Moreover, since Marvel Unlimited is not a regular Amazon service, it's unclear what extra charges would apply and how well it would sync with the device. It is interesting to see that both Kindle downloads and subscriptions as well as Marvel Unlimited are paid services, where as many other new online services are free-to-the-user and ad-supported these days.
