Buzz Watch: The Singapore Government Censor Rap

This must be the first YouTube hit for an official government - Singapore's Media Development Authority (MDA), which regulates and censors media and the arts, has somewhat unexpectedly put together a rap video about the city-state's media ambitions. Watch it here.

It is not just noteworthy because the deputy CEO of the stiff Singapore MDA has dressed up as a gangsta rapper, but, given Singapore’s history of regular censorship of foreign media, the video seems to suggest the opposite.

I guess the MDA figures that if you can’t beat them, join them. Either way, let’s hope for a Chinese sequel.
