Cambridge, Mass. - GuildCafe, the developer of a social network for online games, announced that it has acquired Uberguilds, a network of online gaming communities and fansites.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Massachusetts-based GuildCafe operates a site where users can post profiles of their gaming accomplishments and organize into groups called guilds.

The company has been powering Portland-based Uberguilds' communities since earlier this year.

The Uberguilds Network will now form the foundation for GuildCafe's alliance program, which will let independent sites integrate with GuildCafe's social gaming platform.
