Troubled UK singer Amy Winehouse, who began her recent tour to boos, has officially cancelled the remaining shows, The Sun reports. According to the article, Winehouse issued a statement yesterday. The main motivation for the tour’s cancellation appears to be legal troubles of her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil. He has been incarcerated while awaiting trial for the obstruction of justice.

“I can’t give it my all onstage without my Blake,” Winehouse says in the statement. “I’m so sorry but I don’t want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it’s just not the same.” A spokesperson for Winehouse also issued a statement: “Amy Winehouse has cancelled all remaining live and promotional appearances for the remainder of the year on the instruction of her doctor. The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll. In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues. Refunds for the remaining dates will be issued from the point of purchase.”

And finally, Live Nation, the company promoting the event, also released a statement: “Hire of the venues alone will be insured to a certain degree. The venues she is cancelling are expensive to hire but the costs should be covered. The rail pain is for the fans who have to wait for refunds and have the hassle of losing travel costs. It’s also highly unlikely they will get booking fees back. Anyone who has travelled far booking hotels will be hit the hardest. It will definitely discourage fans from buying tickets for shows in the future.”

The Sun cites a source as having said: “Amy was in Brighton this morning preparing at the Hilton for her gig in Bournemouth. She suddenly left for London for a meeting yesterday afternoon and decided she couldn’t go on. She was in a terrible state in London. She looked awful and had been in floods of tears. She was fragile and weak like an old woman. It was depressing to watch. When the tour was cancelled it was like a weight lifted off her shoulders immediately.”

Winehouse’s recent performance struggles are well-documented, beginning with her appearance at the MTV European Music Awards.
