Telefonica Invests in Mobile Ad Services Firm Amobee

San Francisco - Amobee Media Systems, a provider of mobile advertising services for network operators, announced on Wednesday that it has received a strategic minority investment from Spain-based wireless giant Telefonica.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2005, San Francisco-based Amobee enables mobile network operators to offer digital ad delivery to all mobile content and communication types, including WAP and mobile Web, as well as mobile games, video and messaging.

Amobee cited market research firm Informa's data that estimates worldwide mobile ad revenues will rise to $11.35 billion by 2011.

Other Amobee backers include Vodafone, Accel Partners, Sequoia Captial and Globespan Capital.
