AT&T Chief: 3G Apple iPhone Coming in 2008

Santa Clara, Calif. - Apple (NASD: AAPL) plans to introduce a 3G version of its iPhone sometime next year, according to AT&T (NYSE: T) CEO Randall Stephenson, who disclosed the news at a meeting of the Churchill Club in Santa Clara, Calif., Bloomberg reported. Stephenson added that Apple CEO Steve Jobs "will dictate what the price of the phone is."

The current version of the iPhone in the U.S. operates on AT&T's EDGE network, which provides mobile Web access that is decidedly slower than a 3G connection.

Apple sold 1.4 million iPhones through September, and expects to sell 10 million worldwide next year.

I hope Stevie comes up with a suitable trade-in plan (posted from my slow as "eh-ehm" Edge-networked iPhone)!
