Barbara Walters of ‘The View’ Intimidated by MySpaceAuthored by Scott Goldberg on November 30, 2007 - 12:43pm.
She could make an IRS agent cry, but Barbara Walters admitted on her Sirius satellite radio show, Barbara Live, today that MySpace intimidates her. "I am now on MySpace," she declared. "What would bother me is if nobody got in touch with me. What if … nobody wanted to be my friend? I would be very depressed." Barb, be not afraid, the network for 78-year-old friends on MySpace isn’t the biggest segment.
As of today, Walters only has two friends, MySpace founders Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson. But one curious addition to her site: she lists herself as a 24-year-old female from New York. There’s lying about your age, and then there’s Walters’ version, which is something indefinable. What do you call a 78-year-old woman posing as a 24-year-old on MySpace? An unfair advantage in a beginner’s Bridge game. Bill Geddie, who co-produces The View with Walters, informed her of the paltry friendship stats. Walters, giving her best attempt at social networking lingo, said "And that's for real that nobody wants to be my friend? What have I done?"
Barb might want to think about dipping her toes in the friendlier waters of LinkedIn.
