Led Zeppelin & Metallica Confirmed for Bonnaroo 2008?

An anonymous reader tipped Bob Lefsetz, author of The Lefsetz Letter, yesterday about an interesting development in the live music world: “Zeppelin just confirmed for Bonnaroo. They can't officially announce until after the London gig so pass it on! Also Metallica is confirmed on the bill too!”

Anyone who has experienced the unique event that is Bonnaroo (or its younger sibling Vegoose) knows the four-day Manchester, Tennessee show’s trademark is its eclectic mix of bands. Considered “the largest hippy festival in the world,” as Andrew Stockdale, lead singer of Wolfmother said onstage last June, the festival organizers always manage to add plenty of non-hippy artists. In 2007 there was also the addition of a “classic” billing, the reemergence of The Police.

If the anonymous reader is right about Zeppelin and Metallica, Bonnaroo 2008 has a leg up on alternatives like Coachella before ’07 is even finished.

it would be great if led zeppelin tours only if they do not include that uptight weird slut alison krauss who disharmoniously left her guitar playing husband and neglects her son so people can hear her unimportant gaa gaa goo gooing that is an overated bore --she can wear all the praire dresses and speak softly but she`s nothing but a fake bobblehead --in fact zeppelin would suck if they drag that wench along

You are entitled to your opinion. If you don't like A.K., that's perfectly fine. However, what you say about her music is way off. She is extremely talented and she knows music. She has been singing since before ten and recorded her first solo album at 16. She sings like a bird. I've heard many people say she has the best voice of any woman, especially in her genre. I agree. It's one thing not to like her as a person (for no reason, apparently); it's another to disparage her as a musician. You're wrong.

Very true statement you are making. I believe if someone dont like Led Zeppelin its not because they dont like them but because they havent listened to them (which makes you ignorant anyways) and they just want to sound like they have an opinion that matters. Words cant describe the amount of excitement i have, bonnaroo will be amazing.

Even if Allison Krauss takes her shitty ass music on stage, Led Zeppelin will NEVER suck. Bonnaroo is going to be amazing thanks to them, and its the reason I'm going. But yeah, Allison Krauss does have some pretty terrible music, no matter how great you think her voice is.

I certainly hope Zep will do at least a small tour, that would be the thing to do since so so many of the dedicated fans won't be able to see them at 02 (or even via Pay Per View.) I know it would be a dream come true for me, but let's not count our chickens.... til we hear it from the band members. And about that A. K. comment... you are obviously not a true music lover, and don't deserve to see any Zep show. It's about the music, and if you can only see the surface- then go headbang to Twisted Sister or something.

Bonnaroo gossip

Its so funny to see this. I go to Bonnaroo every year and get to browse online around this time every year to see all the FAKE gossip about bands that are "going" to be at Bonnaroo between now and the release date. Its normally any band that has recently been in the press...The promoters are very good at keeping the line up hidden as this is part of the process they use to sell the initial tickets at a cheaper price. So if Led is going to be there I think they'll have Elvis open for them singing Baby its cold outside with Allison K. So my point is I see this every year with different band and no one has ever been right. The only for sure band is WSP...Woot to the Spreadnecks.

This would be the end of bonnaroo................ Led Zep doesn't belong there and neither does their crowd. Bonnaroo should have stayed a jam festival anyway, fuck this mainstream, if you havn't been to '02,'03' or '04, you missed out on what Bonnaroo was all about, suckers!!!!
