Judge Dismisses LimeWire Antitrust Suit Against Major Labels

Los Angeles - A federal judge has tossed the antitrust lawsuit filed by peer-to-peer file-sharing software distributor LimeWire against the major record labels, the Associated Press reported.

LimeWire alleged that the major labels' refusal to license their works to LimeWire, and other issues like price-fixing among labels, was anticompetitive.

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Gerard E. Lynch said LimeWire's claims "fail to allege an adverse affect on competition market-wide," and granted the labels' motion to dismiss the case.

Judge Lynch viewed the record companies' actions as "independent decision-making by each company to refrain from doing business" with LimeWire.

LimeWire filed the lawsuit as a counterclaim to the copyright infringement lawsuit the major labels filed against the company last year, which is still pending.

i hope lime wire wins the

i hope lime wire wins the lawsuit

Sounds complicated to me,

Sounds complicated to me, Lime has it share of fault here but also was the subject to injustice from major labels. I hope this counterclaim will solve the problem although I am somewhat skeptical considering it's still pending.
