Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Times Media Group (NYSE: TRB) announced on Tuesday that it has taken a small equity stake in Mixx, a social news website whose user-driven news article, photo and video rankings will be integrated at LATimes.com.

Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.

Launched in October, Virginia-based Mixx also provides its news ranking and networking service to USA Today, Reuters.com and The Weather Channel, among others.

Separately, The Los Angeles Times said it will also implement technology from Aggregate Knowledge to add user-generated content suggestions on LATimes.com.
