Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace online social network on Tuesday announced a new program that will offer recording artists the ability to record a live studio session and Q&A with the company, and offer the resulting video and audio content for sale or free distribution on MySpace.

The first artist to participate in the MySpace Transmissions program is Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) artist James Blunt; a video Q&A with Blunt has been made available on MySpaceTV, while five tracks recorded in the studio session are now available for purchase through MySpace Transmissions.

"Transmissions takes our existing music programming to the next level by creating a unique way to expose users to exclusive content while empowering artists and labels with a new way to generate revenue on MySpace," said Josh Brooks, VP of programming and content for MySpace.

The company estimates there are more than 6 million major label, independent label and unsigned artists with MySpace profiles.
