London - U.K. broadband service BT Vision on Wednesday announced the launch of a test of a new service that will offer users free online film rentals for watching targeting advertisements. The company partnered with Hiro Media, Intel and FremantleMedia Enterprises on the three-month trial at the BT Download Store, which will initially offer three films: "Mischief Night," "Played" and "The Punk Rock Movie." U.K. viewers will be asked to download free video software from Hiro Media, and also provide anonymous demographic information that will allow the software to dynamically target ads.

Movie Download War

The total European movie downloads market is estimated to be worth 350 million euros ($516 million) by 2012, up from 17 million euros ($25 million) in 2007. The movie download war is hotting up! And this can only be good for all those online movie downloaders out there!

Broadband needs to improve a bit

I love the fact broadband is now allowing people to download movies straight to their hardrives. I think broadband still needs to improve in the UK for this to be popular with the masses however quality movie download websites are springing up all over the place.
