Mountain View, Calif. - Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone topped Google's (NASD: GOOG) list of the fastest-rising U.S. search terms of 2007, the search engine provider announced on Tuesday.

Second on Google's fastest-rising search terms list was Webkinz, the stuffed animal toys that also feature virtual online versions.

Further down the list were celebrity news website TMZ.com (3rd); Transformers (4th); YouTube (5th); Club Penguin (6th) and MySpace (7th).

The list does not represent the most popular search terms of the year, merely the terms that rose the most in popularity.

"iPhone, of course, is a word very few people typed in a search box in 2006," Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience, told Reuters. "It didn't exist."
